PROJECT DETAILS

Since its inception in September 2016, Academy of Hope's mission has been to provide funds to educate impoverished children from the slums of Rajasthan in India... Why India?

115+ million children are living in impoverished conditions in India, according to a report by World Bank Group and Unicef (2016). Despite all Indian children having the right to public schooling, the reality is the overall quality of public education is grossly lacking and the system is unviable. Due to the associated costs such as books, transport, boarding, meals, uniforms, shoes, stationery, extra curriculum activities, excursions, etcetera.  underprivileged families from remote, rural or indigenous areas simply cannot afford to send their children to school.

Officially, pupil to teacher ratio within the public school system for primary education is 35:1. However, teacher absenteeism in India is exorbitant, with 25% never showing up for work. This percentage is much higher in rural areas, such as in Rajasthan. As a result, children are not exposed to proper learning standards, are often left without supervision or care and are therefore less likely to be accepted into high school or tertiary studies.

In August 2016, Caleb Jude Packham held a fundraising yoga class in London with all proceeds going towards funding the education of one child for one year. This started a movement and inspired many other yoga teachers to follow suit and sponsor a child's education. By the end of 2016, three students were sponsored for the entire duration of their schooling life.

Sanskar International Academy is a co-education, independent, English medium school that provides education for pre-secondary through to secondary school. The campus was established in 2004 and is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The school is equipped with 18 classrooms and all essential facilities.

To enable a child to attend school for life, Academy of Hope provides a holistic solution via public donations, yoga fundraisers and child sponsors. Funding includes all associated costs i.e. registration and tuition fees, uniforms, shoes, school bag, transport, stationery, books, extra tuition if needed and boarding where necessary. Make a contribution today to improve the tomorrow of an impoverished child.
